Dr Gareth Owen
Dr Owen is a specialist Colorectal Surgeon. He specialises in all aspects of Colorectal surgery with particular interest in Colorectal cancer management, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as Colorectal cancer screening and surveillance. He has been a member of the St Vincent's Colorectal Cancer multidisciplinary team since it's inception over 10 years ago. He has been a Colorectal Surgeon at St Vincent's Public and Private Hospitals for over 15years. Dr Owen is heavily involved in training and continues to be actively involved in all aspects of medical student and surgical trainee education. He has previously been the Supervisor of General Surgical Training for St Vincent's Hospital and the Eastern Sydney Surgical Network. He is currently the surgical supervisor of Colorectal Surgery at St Vincent's Hospital.
Services: Dr Owen offers all aspects of Colorectal Cancer management. This includes screening with colonoscopy, preoperative investigation and workup, surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic management and post operative follow up and ongoing surveillance. He also offers all aspects of broader Colorectal Surgery management including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, proctology, colonoscopic screening and more. Finally he is one of the lead hernia surgeons at St Vincent's Hospitals campus.
Dr Owen has been a member of the St Vincent's Colorectal Cancer MDT since it's inception. He is also a founding member of the St Vincent's Hospital Inflammatory Bowel Disease MDT.
