What is Thyroid Cancer?
Thyroid cancer starts in the thyroid gland in the neck and belongs to the group of endocrine cancers. It is rare but occurs more often in women, and can happen at any age. The Thyroid Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) is a group of healthcare professionals who collaborate to provide comprehensive care for individuals diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
The MDT is chaired by Professor Katherine Samaras, an endocrinologist. It is attended by endocrinologists, surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists and imaging specialists. Meetings are held monthly.
